VICTORIA HANNA - TRANSLETTERS Video by Ori Kleiner | Integrated media by Amichai Wolf.
It's a rare voice that knocks you out entirely, ripping you from your surroundings to submerge you in a new place.
Victoria Hanna has one of those voices.Hypnotizing
international audiences with her blend of pulsing vocals and spoken word performance. Hanna chants and sings original works based on ancient Hebrew texts, commenting on contemporary society and cutting through language barriers with passionate interpretations of sacred songs.
(Sarah Lefton flavorpill)
Transletters is an experiment in deconstructing the Hebrew alphabet as an elemental code, exploring its mystical nature and relation to modern modes of technological communication. In a fusion of ancient Hebrew rap, electronic music, and rare footage filmed at the womens section of the Western Wall, Hanna creates a haunting ritual performance.
Translation by Amichai Lau-Lavie, musical production and percussion by
Tamir Muskat, Bass and guitar by Itamar Ziegler, Laptop and Moog by Yuval Ziegler.
